Ataga’s murder: Police make U turn, say Chidinma’s drivers’ license, passport not fake

 

The Prosecution Witness (PW) in the ongoing trial of an undergraduate of the University of Lagos, Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged murder suspect of Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, has admitted that the drivers’ license, and Nigerian passport found in procession of the defendant were not fake.

The prosecution witness, DSP Olusegun Bamidele who is Investigating Police Officer and number 9 witness to be called by the prosecution, admitted this while being cross examine before Justice Yetunde Adesanya.

Ojukwu, a 300-level student of the Department of Mass Communication is being tried before a Lagos State High Court in Tafawa Balewa Square, on nine counts of murder, theft, and forgery.

She was arraigned alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri.

At the last proceeding of the trial, counsel for the first defendant, Mr. Onwuka Egwu, in his cross examination of witness over testimony gave before the court asked the police officer the following:

Defendant’s counsel: “Confirm also that you didn’t tender any letter issued by the University of Lagos that the ID card of the 1st defendant was forged?

Witness:”There was no letter from UNILAG.

Defendant’s counsel: “So the ID and that you alleged was forged, was not forged?

Witness: ” It was not forged.

Defendant’s counsel: “Confirm that you didn’t receive any letter from the Minister of Interior or the Immigration service that the international passport was forged?

Witness: “No”.

 

Defendant’s counsel: ” It is then said that the International passport is an original one, issued by the proper authority?

Witness: ” Yes”

Defendant’s counsel: “Confirm that you didn’t tender any letter from the FRSC that her driver’s license is forged?

Witness: “Yes, I didn’t tender any letter from the FRSC”.

Defendant’s counsel: “Confirm that all the documents – the Driver’s License, the Unilag ID card, the international passport, the Uniport certificate were all found in the 1st defendant’s bedroom?

Witness: ” Yes, my Lord”.

 

Further hearing has been fixed for 29&30 of January, 2023
