#EndMalariaInNigeria ; Nursing mother,300 pregnant women to benefit in community Mosquito control intervention in Kwale Delta state

Francis Nwapa,the convener #EndMalariaInNigeria wishes to notify the media and general public of it’s partnership with Malaria Partners International, Rotary Club of Kwale (New Dawn), Hatch Pest Control and Environmental Service Ltd, on a community Mosquito control intervention among pregnant and nursing mothers in Ndokwa West Local Government area of Kwale Delta State.
According to him,this was disclosed through statement released by that the intervention is to carry out indoor residual spraying in the home of 300 pregnant and nursing mothers within the Local government and also carry out drainage Larvisiding of the communities.
This initiative is necessitated considering the rising cases of Malaria mortality among pregnant women, nursing mothers and children between ages of 0-5 years in Nigeria.
Nigeria currently, according to World Health Organization (WHO) record’s, 300, 000 Deaths ANNUALLY from Malaria, 30% Of childhood deaths, 25% of under one year death is caused by Malaria, while 11% of maternal deaths.
Our goal is to shift attention from curative to preventive interventions in the fight against Malaria. Through proper water control, construction of modern drainages, sewer system, Dams and sanitary landfill to discourage open dumping practice, then Nigeria will be on the path to controlling the vector that causes malaria.
The unveiling event of the intervention will take place in the Hall of Ndokwa West Local Government area, Kwale on the 26th of July 2023.

Professionals within the field of Environmental health services, policy makers and other stakeholders will be discussing steps to be taken to mitigating malaria surge within the Local Government area, given the raining season and last year flooding that submerged the large parts of the communities and providing breeding spaces for mosquito to thrive.
One of the key note speaker at the unveiling event is the convener of #EndMalariaInNigeria, PCO Francis Nwapa has called on the media and Nigerians to project on the campaign to End Malaria in Nigeria.
